Inside Out Physical Therapy is uniquely positioned to help you change your life. We start with the basics you likely never even knew mattered, and we build on those to help you develop a healthy and optimally functioning body.
As the first direct care Pelvic Health clinic in Wilmington, since 2017 IOPT has offered a boutique style practice that introduces a uniquely integrated and holistic approach to your pelvic health. With Caroline, you will experience the benefit of interacting directly with one therapist regarding your individual questions, goals, scheduling needs and treatment plan.
We appreciate the opportunity to help you feel heard and understood, to meet you where you are, and to guide you through realistic and actionable steps towards your goals, whatever they may be.

About Inside Out
Our Values
At IOPT, we believe many of the problems you are experiencing would not be an issue if there was better education around them to begin with. Therefore, education is a primary, integral, and ongoing approach in helping you resolve these problems in our practice. Here, you will learn about your nervous system, and how stress can impact your symptoms. You will learn tools to manage your stress reaction, so as to help manage those symptoms. You will learn how your bladder, bowel and reproductive systems work, and how to keep them healthy. Knowledge will help you progress more quickly and have less need for therapy in the future.
The research has shown that experiencing stress or threat, and therefore the activation of the flight, fight, freeze or fawn reaction, can have a strong and negative influence on the pelvic floor. At IOPT we recognize the likelihood that many of our clients have experienced some type of stress/trauma/situation that impacts their symptoms, and that walking in our door can be a huge act of courage. In order for healing to occur, we recognize that privacy, safety, choice, consent, collaboration, trust, and empowerment must be integral concepts in the care we provide. In support of this, we strive to provide the best therapeutic landscape for you that supports this.
At IOPT, we recognize and help you identify that your symptoms may be sourced in any or all of these areas, and most likely a combination of them. In our approach to healing, we practice in a way that integrates your mind, body and spirit, and improves wellness in all the related areas of your being.
At IOPT, we are here to help you regain control, freedom and joy in your body. We believe in the power of understanding and taking responsibility for your own health. We understand that sometimes this can feel overwhelming, and we are here to meet you wherever you are and guide you to wherever you want to be. We can be your accountability partner, until you grow into the strength to be your own. WE know you can do this, and soon you will, too. We look forward to witnessing you grow into your best self.
Our Vision
At IOPT, we look forward to a world in which the future generations will be as comfortable with, and as knowledgeable of, their pelvic health as they are the rest of their body. They will live lives free of the limitations we see in today’s adults around bladder, bowel, reproductive and sexual health. We pursue this goal by replacing limiting stigma and shame with education, support and celebration. It begins with you. Let us help.
Meet Your Physical Therapist
Well hey! Thanks so much for making it this far, and your interest in what I can do for you. I hope you’re sitting down and buckled in because this is the longest part, I’m sorry. But it’s so important, if you can be patient. Not because it’s about me, but about you. Doing this work with a therapist may be some of the most challenging and rewarding work you ever do. If you’re going to do this work, I hope you find the perfect therapist to team with to help you reach for the life you didn’t know you could have. This is where you get an idea of whether I might be that therapist. Here we go.
My own journeys through breaking my back, having a baby, and the Menopause transition have directed my path to and through my PT career. Every step I have taken has been at the forefront of my profession and I have enjoyed challenging the treatment norms of the day to offer my patients new and innovative approaches that then became the standard mainstream. For perspective? My first prenatal/post-partum coursework was in 1994, women’s health before women’s health was cool!
Working most of my career closely with women as they aged has inspired me to help women of the next generations to walk a different path than their mothers, aunts and grandmothers. One that involves the understanding and knowledge of their own amazing and inherent capacity, free of the limitations we have been told we can expect as the stewards of a female body.
A very diverse and complex background in neuro, manual, orthopedic work has given me a unique lens into Pelvic Health and your experience. All movement of the body occurs at the direction of the nervous system, and therefore that is where we will start. Stressors and basic physiological health can impact the nervous system and pelvic floor in both positive and negative ways, and treating them together through an integrated and holistic model provides the best results. Your goals will be achieved through a system of individualized coaching and education, in cooperation with specific targeted fascial mobilization and natural movement patterning, for the most effective, efficient and long lasting approach.
Having a clear idea of how these factors are so necessary to integrate into the physical movement model of Pelvic PT led me in 2017 to open the first direct care model of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy in Wilmington, NC. Since then, it’s been full speed ahead, always learning and bringing new and progressive techniques to my patients, with the same passion that has driven my entire career.
